New Hampshire

New Hampshire is the Live Free or Die state. It laid back and easy going but they take America very serious, every house had a flag. This state has many beautiful features but the White Mountains (the next National Park) steals the show. We had a great time rock and mountain climbing.

White Mountains- We always like to start at the begging so set your GPS to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. You will get some great resources and recommendations on the area and which hikes/climbs are best for you. It is also the best place to park the car and grab one last snack or coffee. The 2 we chose are the “mountain climb” and the “falls” hike but there are many to pick from.

The “mountain climb”- Its not too rigorous but is a little muddy and goes over some rocky terrain. The final leg of the uphill hike is a climb over somewhat challenging boulders. You can even opt in and pay professionals to teach you how to legit climb rocks with the ropes and helmets but it is not required. the climax is a boulder plateau that overlooks the mountains and valley.

The “falls” hike- This hike is give or take 4 miles, 2 miles up and 2 miles down, and is located directly behind the visitors center. Do take a moment to listen to the water gently meandering down the creek beds and breathing in the fresh air. At the end you are rewarded with a small 40 foot waterfall. Its nothing to write home about but it is a simple pleasure and enough to take your mind off all the worlds problems and remind you why you came out here in the first place.

Jackson - New Hampshire

Jackson, New Hampshire is where we set up our base camp, it is the perfect setting and very close to all the action.

We found the Snowflake Inn and it or has: very clean, smells wonderful, very good coffee, warm rooms, the best bed to sleep on, fresh treats like cookies, wonderful staff, onsite owner and a full gym to name a few. Very pleased!

Old wooden bridges are a trademark of New Hampshire and the Northeast in general.
