Washington DC

Washington DC is the capital of the United States of America. It has a population of nearly 5.5 million in the metro area and 650,000 in the city limits. It is a beautiful place full of rich history. It has many national landmarks and treasures. A fantastic subway system and wonderful restaurants and bars. It was designed and built for the purpose of becoming the capital. It has seen ups and downs, certainly the current situation would be considered in the down category, but it is in fact our nations political center and a symbol of our great country. Regardless if you are a Democrat or Republican this place is special and definitely worth a visit.

The White House

President George Washington was the first and the best! He led the Revolution, he fought the war, he oversaw the Constitution being written and defined what a president and country should be! He is the “Father of the United States of America and that’s why he is my favorite. She likes Lincoln and thinks he’s the best, I guess he did do some pretty important stuff too like keep the country together, freed the slaves, won a war, wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, set the tone for the next 100 years and propelled us into what we are today. Okay so they are both great men and played their role in history.

The Lincoln Memorial

Washington Monument

If you look closely in the lower right corner you can see Forrest and Jennie casually strolling.

Arlington National Cemetery

No visit the D.C. is complete without a visit to Arlington, at least not if you're a history buff or happen to love America. You just cross right over the Potomac River and you are here. It is the final resting place of former presidents, generals servicemen and women of all kinds and it is where you will find the tomb of the unknown soldier.

When we were having a funeral for a 4 star general with a 21 gun salute, it was incredible.

The headstones of President Kennedy and Jackie Onassis, you can see the eternal flame displayed at the top of the photo.

The tomb of the unknown soldier is high on the list and if you are patient the changing of the guard is well worth it.
