Sorrento

Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, it’s known for sweeping water views and Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. The historic center is a warren of narrow alleys that's home to the Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister.

Sorrento as the sun rises…….

Sorrento when the sun goes down.

The town sits in a bay and has many marinas, this one houses pleasure and fishing boats.

This was one of my favorite buildings, it just sits up on a hillside and isn’t much of a storefront or residence that I could tell but I do think its interesting.

Corso Italia- This street is one of the main shopping areas that you can find just about anything. Food, drinks, clothes and assorted other stuff. It is the main drag.

Piazza Tasso- Is the town square, all maid roads lead to here.

Bristol Hotel-

After 4 flights we finally arrived in Napoli and our driver took us on the 45 minute drive to Sorrento. We definitely needed some downtime away from people and without masks. The Bristol delivered! Elegent, clean and historic. This hotel offered top eats and drinks and immediately took the edge off. I highly recommend this place! **** https://www.bristolsorrento.com

Getting Here and Around

Driving - Coming down the the mountain side into the town there is always traffic, always. You drive thru a tunnel for 5-10 minutes and it spits you out in the outskirts of town. It is a 2 lane road and the slightest thing can cause a backup and there is always a thing. The same can be said for getting out of town. Around Sorrento is a little messy with people walking, unmarked streets and sudden turns but it is not so bad…..10 and 2 and you will be fine.

Train- Is a great way to get here from Naples or elsewhere. The things you need to know is that it is never on time and it is not dependable so if you are in a hurry and need to make it to the airport or cross country train, find another way. If you are in no hurry……enjoy.

Ferry- Always on time but not the fastest.
