Arches NP

Arches National Park- is a national park in eastern Utah. It runs next to the Colorado River and just up the ways from the town of Moab. Its famous sand stone Arches, all 2000 of them, is where it gets its name from. According to the national park service the park contains the highest density of natural arches in the world.

The park has a total land size of 76,680 acres and reaches as high 5,653 feet in elevation. Its technically in the desert so ig gets less than a foot of rainfall in a year. Arches was first a national monument 1929 and became a national park on 1971.

Running, climbing, hiking, it’s got it all. This is your classic national park and everything great about our NPS. It’s visually stimulating as you gaze at the contrast of deep reddish brown sandstone structures set to the backdrop of brilliant blue skies. You can see forever and even as the clouds rolled in it was easy to see beauty in that. This place is just fun.

The Drive - I came in US-191 from Moab and the scenery is amazing the whole way thru with a bonus of crossing the Colorado River. as you approach the gates strange formations pop out of the ground.

Warm Welcomes- The national park ritual we have adopted is show your park pass at the gate and head straight the visitors center. I take a 30 second bathroom time out, get a park map and patch and talk to a ranger about the best things and suggested hikes. Here at Arches NP, they greet you the second you step out of the vehicle.

Arches NP Map- This is the official map from the NPS.
