Traveling to Barcelona is an exciting and vibrant experience, here’s what I saw when I was there

La SAGrada Familia

The iconic basilica in Barcelona was designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. It is a masterpiece of modern architecture, characterized by its intricate facades, soaring spires, and innovative use of materials. The basilica's ongoing construction, which began in 1882 and is still underway, showcases Gaudí's vision of harmoniously blending nature, religious symbolism, and architectural grandeur. With its mesmerizing stained glass windows, organic shapes, and a profound sense of spirituality.

People on the Streets

Barcelona is full of street cafés and bustling plazas where locals and tourists gather. Take a seat at a café and order a cup of coffee, maybe a cold refreshing cocktail or maybe a tasty gelato. Pay a few euros extra and put yourself in a spot and simply watch the world go by. You'll witness a lively mix of people, from stylish locals to curious tourists, street performers, and artists. The mix of people you see will range from the young and beautiful to the bizarre and odd. In the heat of a magical summer or the breeze of the spring air, you will find yourself immersed with life.

Barcelona has a population of 1.62 million but the tourists that come here have reached as high as nearly 14 million people.

Landmarks and architecture

Historical design and modern Spanish influences is part of what makes this place amazing. It is a Europe city designed for biking and walking and as you make your way around each turn reveals something new.

Hotel Colon

Situated on the famous Plaza de la Catedral, it offers a prime location with stunning views of the Barcelona Cathedral and easy access to many of the city's attractions. It is the perfect hotel, in the perfect setting. The rooftop has some of the best views of the city and is such a beautiful place to have a cocktail that people line up outside to wait for a table. Even if you don’t stay here, which you should, at least have a glass of Cava or Sangria.

Barcelona Summary

Ive been to Europe a half a dozen times in my life and to be honest Spain was not high on my list. What I knew of Barcelona was it hosted the “Dream Team” when I was a kid.

This place is amazing and I highly recommend you find out for yourself what I didn’t know. Barcelona should be on your bucket list if it is not already. In my option the La SAGrada Familia is a wonder of the world. Im not sure how many actual wonders there are and who makes those lists………for me and my list this ranks somewhere at the top. Remarkable and magnificent.
