Casablanca

Casablanca, known by its Arabic name Dar al-Bayda is the largest city in Morocco and the country's economic and business center. It is located in northwest Africa nestled right on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The town was occupied by the French in 1907, and during the French protectorate (1912–56) Casablanca became the chief port of Morocco.

Getting To Casablanca

Shout out to the Royal Air Maroc, the official airlines of Morocco.

They were wonderful to fly with and the food/service was exceptional.

When flying on a new carrier especially one you’ve never heard of you never what you're going to get or what to expect.

Mohammed V International

The Casablanca airport (CMN) is modern, clean and safe. It is not spectacular but it is nice and efficient

Around Town

Moroccans are generally friendly and hospitable. However, it's essential to respect the local customs and traditions. Dress modestly, particularly when visiting religious sites, and ask for permission before taking photos of people.

Casablanca has a population of roughly 4.5 million in the metro Casablanca region, making it the eighth-largest in the Arab world.

Ricks Cafe

Rick's Café is a famous restaurant and bar is inspired by the classic 1942 film "Casablanca," starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

Keep in mind that while Rick's Café draws its inspiration from the movie it is not the actual film set. However, the café offers a unique and nostalgic experience for visitors, allowing them to step back in time and relive some of the magic of the classic film.

Having seen the movie several times including on the airplane ride over this was a must see for me.

Casablanca Beach

An African beach in a majority Muslim country might be different for you if you grew up at going to a western beach. It is mostly men but that’s not to say women are not there, you just will not see them in bikinis. They are modest and covered with sleeves and long pants.

It is a beach so you will find sand and an ocean but it is a completely different vibe and the focus is on the serenity of the water. Groups of young boys kicking around a soccer ball is abundant but girls with string riding up their exterior, slapping balls over a net is nonexistent.

Hassan II Mosque

Grande Mosquée Hassan II is a mosque in Casablanca, Morocco is the largest functioning mosque in Africa. It is located directly on the ocean and its location near the sea gives it a stunning and picturesque setting. As a Christian I can appreciate this house of worship and the fact that it was built so recent, in the 90’s, shows that great religious structure can still be built in the modern area.

The most distinctive feature of the Hassan II Mosque is its minaret, which stands at a height of 210 meters (689 feet). It is the tallest minaret in the world and can be seen from miles away. The minaret's laser light at the top shines toward Mecca, providing a powerful and symbolic sight at night.

4 Seasons Hotel

The 4 Seasons always lives up to her name. The location is prime right on the beach and has a clean look on the exterior. The service is exceptional from the front door till your bags are set down in the room. They have a classy Moroccan design in the lobby which flows well to the dinning hall and thru out the entire hotel. The rooms are large and beds are the kind that put you to sleep in less than a moment. Pool area is superb and the beach access is protected by armed guards and dogs that are very capable if commanded so. Exceptional hotel and very safe………Would highly recommend to a friend.

Casablanca is Morocco's chief port and one of the largest artificial ports in the world and is considered the largest financial center in Africa.
