Tokyo 東京

Tokyo, Japan’s busy capital, mixes the ultramodern and the traditional, from neon-lit skyscrapers to historic temples.

Tokyo is the capital city of Japan with a population of over 14 million residents.

The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world at 41 million residents.

Views From Above

Tokyo does have tall buildings but not as many as you would think for a city this big. Japan set limits for years on building heights but advances in engineering made them reconsider this. The reason for this, earthquakes.

They have many earthquakes. There are about 100 earthquakes each year that you can feel/notice. Experts say there is a 70 per cent chance of a major earthquake hitting Tokyo within the next 30 years.

The skyscrapers they do have offer spectacular views of the city.

Shibuya Crossing

Shibuya Crossing is the world's busiest pedestrian crossing, with as many as 3,000 people crossing at a time. It is one of Tokyo's most recognizable sights, pictured in countless films, magazines and blogs.

People Watching

Tokyo has a lot of folks and adding to that fun the city draws in well over 30 million tourists each year.

People are on the move here and in a fast paced environment I enjoy slowing things down by grabbing the camera and just watching people go about their lives.

Tokyo Architecture

Buildings are buildings but you can see some flair that makes things interesting.

I found many curves, rounded areas and towers and interesting lines all over Tokyo.
