Mykonos

Mykonos or Μύκονος- is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, has an area of 33 miles and rises to an elevation of 1,119 feet at its highest point. The population is a little over 10,000, most of whom live in the largest town, Mykonos, also known as Chora which lies on the west coast.

It’s laid back vibe and electric atmosphere is infectious. It’s famous for its 16th century Venetian windmills which greet you upon arrival and throughout your stay, not sure the exact amount but I stopped counting when I hit double digits. Speaking of other Greek Islands there are other similarities found here that are found on the others like all white buildings with contrasting colored doors and trim, blue domed churches, cats running amuck and interesting tropical vegetation both plants and pine trees. From April to October this is a beach party heaven.

The Streets of Mykonos

It feels like your in the movies or some influencers Instagram feed……..

Its white washed streets is a signature trademark. I’ve seen similar streets on another Greek Island but not like this, this place is like a fairy tail.

The colors really pop against that white background.

Every alley or side street is an opporuntity……

Little Venice

- is a waterfront stretch that has bars, hotels and restaurants right on the sea.

There is also a sidewalk that waves splash against, tourist and children race across to try and not get wet.

Further walks around the waterfront are very relaxing.

The Church of Panagia Paraportiani in Mykonos

The church of Panagia (Virgin Mary) is one the most photographed churches in Mykonos and in the world. Fun Fact- It is actually 5 separate churches that were built on top of each other.

Where to stay

Semeli The Hotel was well above average and checked all the box. Clean bright rooms, private rood top hot tubs, close to the action but not loud, fantastic pool, weights to get a workout, fast wifi and a free breakfast that’s to die for. I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. https://www.semelihotel.gr
