Island of Capri

Emperor Augustus- Eternally greeting passing boats from his lofty perch

Getting to Capri is part of the adventure-and a little bit of a test to see how much you really want those lemon-scented sea breezes. There’s no airport here, no bridge, and definitely no “quick drive.” Your options? A ferry or a hydrofoil from Naples or Sorrento. The hydrofoil is faster, skimming across the Tyrrhenian Sea like a skipping stone, but expect a bumpy ride if the seas are moody. The ferries are slower but steadier, giving you more time to soak in views of Vesuvius and the coastline. Either way, pack light and do your stretches, you're about to put your calf muscles to the test.

Capri Perimeter-

As you get close to Capri, you can’t help but feel like you’ve stumbled into a dream—one with cliffs so steep they look like they’re trying to keep secrets. There aren’t many beaches here, just rocky ledges, sea-carved grottos, and old stone spires that pop up like they’ve been keeping watch for centuries. Underneath it all, there’s a hidden mountain range that stretches from Capri to the mainland, just barely below the surface, like an old Roman road for sea creatures. The water shifts colors like it’s showing off- inky blues one minute, then suddenly bursts of green and aquamarine when the sunlight hits just right. It’s wild, beautiful, and a little mysterious… the kind of place that makes you want to toss your phone in the sea and live off lemons and daydreams.

Capri

Capri is the island’s headliner

—the famous town with its big marina where yachts line up like pearls on a necklace and cobblestone streets brimming with high-end boutiques. This is the Capri of postcards and daydreams, where you half-expect to see movie stars sipping espresso in oversized sunglasses. It’s also where Jackie Kennedy, on one of her visits, famously picked up a few pairs of slim-cut pants that felt perfect for strolling these sunlit lanes. She brought them back to America, and just like that, “Capri pants” became a fashion revolution that still hasn’t gone out of style. Only on Capri can a pair of trousers feel as legendary as the view.

As we casually strolled we cam across a cemetery. Im not sure why this caught my eye but it was certainly different than any other I had ever seen.

Anacapri-

this is the portion of the island that is higher up in the mountains and is noticeably more laid back. The Greeks were here first and settled it in the 8th century BC. It really had its coming out party during the Roman Empire, emperor Augustus resided here. He built temples and gardens and created his own private paradise.

You will find lush tropical gardens throughout.
