Cradle Mountain NP
Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is the official name and Cradle Mountain is the main feature of the park standing in at 5,069 ft tall. It is surrounded by a series of lakes and streams that are know for their dark rich blue waters. The waters have the elusive platypus and lands have wombats running about. It became a national park in 1947.

As you move away from the mountains and elevation the glacier fed lakes pour into streams and cascade down the hillsides creating beautiful scenes and lush vegetation around them.
Wombat Trail- This hiking path told no lies. We first spotted the tell tale sign wombats are around, square poop! They are perfectly square and let you know the little fellas are here. The little Ewoks sure enough were rustling around and rubbing against brush to itch a scratch.
Accommodations- You can stay right in the park at the Cradle Mountain Lodge. It was nice, clean, very enjoyable and I would recommend it to a friend. You are in the wilderness but you also have a warm shower, wifi and a cheeseburger and fries. Lets not kid ourselves its great to explore all day but a tent and swamp butt is for suckers. https://www.cradlemountainlodge.com.au
