Burano

Both of these 2 are islands located just off the coast from Venice in Northern Italy. They are a short boat ride away and are a great day trip.

Burano is know for its colorful buildings and handmade lace.

Bridges cross the canals all over leading you from one enchanting street to another. These small wooden crossings add an extra element to an already exquisite setting.

Enjoying the moments

As I was strolling down the canals I noticed this photo session in progress. They were taking photos and videos for an Instagram or Tictok post.

This sort of thing used to get a snarky comment from me but as Ive gotten older I realized people are actually pretty cool and very creative. They are not embarressed or shy to show they are having fun and maybe Im just jealous that when I was a younger lad the best I could hope for on my travels was that 3 or 4 of the pics from disposable camera would turn out well enough that I could send them to friends from my hotmail account.

People are enjoying every moment of their travels and life, so should you.

Around Town

Leaning Tower

has stood for hundreds of years and ironically the side that it leans to sits a school for young children and playground. I suppose they the people are confident it isnโ€™t going anywhere but perhaps something else should be there? What do I know?

Burano Lace

This type of lace making has been done for many centuries. The art form is endangered, the next generation is not learning the craft and cheap factory knockoffs are abundant. For now it lives on with the few women still churning their fingers.

Both Burano and Murano were a pleasure and I am very thankful I got to see them both. If ever in Venice this is something not be missed and was a highlight of the trip. This was our tour guide and she was absolutely beautiful inside and out, a true Venetian woman.
