Scotland
Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and covers the northern third of the island of Great Britain.
The population is nearly 5.5 million people and their currency is the GBP pound sterling. The largest city is Glasgow and its capital is Edinburgh.
They are famous for kilts, whiskey and fantastic personalities and accents. They are a proud people and great conversationists.
Edinburgh
The city was best described to me by locals as the posh and sophisticated destination of Scotland. After exploring the natural beauty of the countryside, highlands and national parksโฆ.it was time to choose a big city to explore and that comes down to two choices:
Glasgow which is more of a hangout if you are young and looking for a good time. Population 650k.
Edinburgh is the place for when youโr all grown up and enjoy history. Population 530k.
Nearly 70% of daylight hours are cloudy or with shade, haze or low sun intensity.
Edinburgh is Scotland's capital city and historical medieval town. The wider metropolitan area is 102 square miles and has a population 902k people.
St. Andrews Golf Course
This is where golf was born and has been played here for over 600 years. What do the call the oldest course in the worldโฆ.The Old Course. They have 6 other beautiful courses here but the Old Course is what people come to see and play on. Normal โcommon folkโ are allowed to play here and it will cost you around $500 in peak season April-October and slightly less in the off-peak.
Getting a Tee Time
Lottery Options: File a form two days before you want to play, they draw and then post the winners. The โwalk-upโ is also a lottery and does enjoy some surprisingly high success. File a form at the end of the season for the following year.
Guaranteed Packages: Local vendors package up hotels, restaurants, other courses and the โOld Courseโ. This will cost you but maybe itโs what you want anyways.
