Sydney

Sydney, Australia——The Emerald City———Is the capital of the state of New South Whales (NSW) but not the capital of Australia, that is Canberra, I used to get that wrong. Sydney has the largest population in all of Australia and the continent of Oceania with roughly 5.5 million people. The city is most definitely beautiful and has many things to do and because the great weather a majority of those things are outdoors. It is home to the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, it hosted the 2000 Olympic Games and is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, also one of the most expensive. It was part of the British Empire and now the Commonwealth so the ties to England are very strong and it is evident in the cultural, layout of the city and hearts of her residents. If you consider yourself a world traveler, Sydney is an absolute must!

Sydney Harbor Bridge

This bridge (The Coathanger) is the largest steel arch bridge in the world and has been a landmark here since 1932. You can walk or ride your bike across and if your up for it you can climb to the top for a mere $200. I thought that price was a bit outrageous but the views on top are pretty amazing.

Views from Sydney Harbor Bridge

Down by the water there is plenty of food, drinks and ice cream.

The pedestrian only streets leadd you right up to the steps of the opera house.

First Trip to Sydney

Sydney Map- This is the free tourist map I had and used when I was there. Im old school and like to have an actual paper map in my hand. I don’t walk around with it and stand out but I keep them in my pocket for reference or pull it out to review when stopping for lunch or a beer. To be honest $18 bucks isn’t that bad a deal to be shown around and familiarize yourself with the city. Heres there website: https://www.freetourssydney.com.au/sydney/travel-guide/free-map/
