Ngorongoro

Ngorongoro Conservation Area is in northern Tanzania. It’s home to the vast, volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and the “big 5” animals. The parks size is a massive 3,200 square miles and is visited by half a million people. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site and has had national park status for decades.

I would rank this park as one of the top parks I have ever been to. It is not as well known as Krueger or Serengeti but in my opinion it is right up there. This place is special and is like no other.

Landscape and Setting

The volcano used to be a massive mountain until it exploded. What was left was a shell of its former glory but what it became was nothing short of magnificent. It is massive grassland surrounded by a 2000’ wall with a beautiful lake in the middle. The giant walls are full of massive trees and tropical vegetation.

African Safari

I love safari’s! It gives people a chance to have up-close encounters with animals, generates tourism dollars for the country and provides jobs for the local community. However, is it too much? Im not sure what the effect is on the animals and the land itself. My opinion is that it is overall a very positive thing but I also think they should limit the amount of visitors they allow in.
