Nelson Lakes New Zealand

Tucked away at the very top of New Zealand’s South Island, Nelson Lakes is like the front porch to all your South Island adventures. A quick hop from Auckland, about an hour and a half in the air,and you’re touching down in a whole different rhythm of life. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t shout for your attention; instead, it quietly invites you to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and ease into the laidback pace that the South Island is famous for.

This region obviously has lakes and is a well know freshwater fish sanctuary with a backdrop of mountains soaring from its banks, a very relaxing spot.

First thing when you land is pick up a rental car and then get moving, do not be scared to drive here.

We visited in October/ November which in New Zealand is spring time. See my rain jacket in the picture, it is best to have a rain jacket and pants handy at all times because the weather will change and it can happen in a hurry.

If your exploring Nelson Lakes NP this is the place to stay. Its nice and clean and the owner will get you a beer the second you unpack. You never know if you make the right decision until you stay so just a heads up, staying here is a good decision. The foods good as well.
